It is interesting that the post that I get the biggest response to has to do with a kid who doesn't know the difference between marvel and DC.
It would be an interesting story, but I think the days of a DC/Marvel cross over are pretty much over.
Now don't get me wrong, I used to read both Marvel and DC along time ago.
I am the first to say the the Best X-Men was when Claremont and Cockrum did it, but Marvel got too confusing to me and I stopped buying the titles.
DC and I have almost a 50 year relationship. I went with what I know and have rewarded with great stories.
So.... until DC and Marvel do cross overs like "JLA VS Avengers", I will always reject Spider-Man for membership in the JLA.

Very rarely do I have a desire to read one of the New 52 Graphic novels. The DC Universe Presents Vol 1 is one exception.
It presents new takes on two of my old Favorites: Deadman and Challengers of the Unknown.
Both of these well written series. I recommend both to new readers. The Graphic novel puts the two stories into one book.
DC Universe Presents Vol. 1: Deadman/Challengers of the Unknown. Find out more here about both exciting stories in this one volume: http://bit.ly/114Ed9X

I Saw the following post on one of my social sites:
"im trying to collect al of the new 52 comics for the justic league, detective, and action comics, woder woman, and batman and it's coasting me over $600.00 dollers"
Now, Spelling errors aside, I can't wrap my head how this person is spending $600 dollars a month on comics.
I did the math and no does any one spend 600 a month on comics.
Tell me if I am wrong.
I could be, but I don't think so.

DC Comics Ultimate Character Guide
DC Comics Ultimate Character Guide
Published Jul 2011. and its Marvel counterpart are both being sold in stores right now.
I
I liked the Idea of it. It goes back to the days of the Whos Who series.
Unfortunately it deals with obsolete information.
The New 52 and Marvel now are re writing what has gone before.
So New readers will have an idea that this is the way Marvel and DC are now.
It could be good as a reference to the basics of the characters.
At 11 bucks its a deal to see the are and profiles of all your favorite characters.
If that is what you want then cool.
Go forth and Beyond
Shane
P.S. I wouldn't one of these for Christmas Santa.

Darkseid responds to CN messing with Young Justice
Cancel Cartoon Network's Young Justice, and I send parademons after you. |
Young Justice's future
DC is canceling the Young Justice Comic as of February.
Cartoon Network has put the show on Hiatus.
Sounds like the show is in trouble.
DC and Warner Bros seem to have a hard time marketing this franchise.
Let's face it Cartoon Network has a limited audience. Most of us do not have cable.
A lot of us get our content from the internet.
Add to that the fact that there are many pirating sites that show it on the internet.
If this show was on something like Netflix or Hulu, I would watch it all the time.
Even Marvel streams some of its content with out the permission of cable networks.
So why not work out a deal with Hulu or Netflix. The audience isn't based on abitron ratings, it based on actual views of the show.
Just a thought.

Freedom Fighters - Told you So
As I said in a Previous blog. The way to do Freedom Fighters is to link the titles.
Phantom Lady # 3 just that. The Ray shows up in this issue. He is also slated to be in the final issue.
So what have we learned from this issue?
1. Uncle Sam is black.
2. Funerella is queen of the undead, or plays it on TV.
3. Great Art.
4. Even the characters are mocking other characters in the book.
I hope things get better next issue.

Ok, nice cover, but do I really want 52 copies of the same story???
I can think better things to do with the $146 I will spend on the 52 other copies.
I hope that DC isn't too desperate to make money, because not everyone wants the same story 52 times.

Justice League Dark and Constantine
If you are not reading it, you should.
Jeff Lemire has done a great job creating a team that is interesting enough that you want to come back for the next issue.
Justice League Dark annual is no exception.
The addition of the new 52 Constantine title should make the Dark side look even better.
I hope to see some of the other characters that keep showing in Madame Xanadu's visions.
This is one Justice League that will continue to be in my buy pile.

5 New Titles coming to DC in 2013
The Justice League family of titles are getting additional titles.
1. Justice League of America
2. Katana
3. Vibe
4. Constantine - Justice League Dark member who had a vertigo title.
Then add to the fold the new title Threshold.
So there is 5 new titles to the new 52.
I like the idea of all but one of them: Vibe.
Vibe was lame the last time he was introduced. Let's hope this Hispanic character doesn't go the way of Blue Beetle, who ironically is supposed to be included in the Threshold title.
Let us hope for the best.
Go Forth and Do Well,
Shane
