DC Websites revamps

Check out the new revamped  Check it out.

Top 5 things I like about the Revamp:

1. The TV listing is a lot cooler.  It includes a pic and a synopsis of each show. And it includes pilots like Aquaman.

2.The movie section.  Again it list all the movies, good and bad, that have been made.

3.  The comics section is easier to use.  I shows three months out, the current and two future months.

4. Characters section still needs more content.  But it is more visually pleasing.

5. The Videos sectiion includes the DC All Access show.  DC All Access is a great way to get more insight into what goes on at DC.

Justice League Canada?

Have you ever said what the..., when you saw an announcement for a book?

Well I have now.

Justice League America will soon become Justice League Canada.

Yes you heard it right.. Canada.

Now before you discount this as another failed attempt at an international team, remember this: a good portion of the team moves to Canada.

Also remember this Adam Strange will be a member of this team, and will be Canadian.

Plus at least one, if not a couple other people, will be from Canada on the team.

If DC is smart, they would do as they are doing with Adam Strange: bring back an old 52 hero and revise him or her as a Canadian hero.

Ben Affleck is taking a dare on the Batman Role.

Yes I did the pun.

But my pun is more to illustrate a new reality.

Ben Affleck as Daredevil will be nothing compared to Ben Affleck as Batman.

Ben, ever since he started directing, has grown as an actor.  He seems to finally understand the characters he plays.

Media treating Justice Leauge like Avengers Wanna Be

The Media, as a whole, seems to be getting it wrong.

There seems to be a comparison of the "Avengers" movie to a potential "Justice League" movie.

I admit that Marvel has the formula to make their properties hits, but to compare the teams is a bit of reach.

I would compare The Justice Leauge to the knights of old.  Most of them wearing their Crest on them as notice to all evil doers. I would say that these people were destined to be heroes- with or without powers.

Whereas, the Avengers are people, who for whatever reason, have heroism thrust upon them. The Avengers become heroes because great power(s) have made them become heroes.

Both views are great ideas, but not the same.

So now you have my take on it.

And, before you read the link below, please realize that there was a time I read both Marvel and DC.

Both have their place, but I ultimately chose DC.

I just read the current issues of Justice League, Justice League of America, and Justice Leaugue Dark.

If you aren't reading thoses titles, you should.

If Trinity War is half as good as what it building up to it, you are going to have a good read over the summer.

What does DC call The New 52?

At my count, DC still only has 50 New 52 titles.

That is not saying that they, in fact, have more than 52 titles in the DC Imprint.

My wife has even said to me "Why does it matter that they have 52 titles?"

My response is that it is the new Universe that they are presenting to us.  52 books that define their, in DC's case, Multiverse.

But she is right.  As long as we have great stories coming out, we should be happy.

I bet any one of us has ideas we are dying to talk to DC about.

Sadly that is not a part of the new 52.

The only thing new about the new 52 is that they want new readers.

In an age where more kids play video games than read, it is very hard to get people plop down 2.99 for a book that has only one story. Especially when they can create their own on the video game on the screen before them.

Something to think about.

DC Comics movies in the works

The following are movies that entertainment sites say are in the works for DC:

1. Justice League.  This seems to depend on how well "Man of Steel" does at the boxoffice.

2. Dark Universe a.k.a. Justice League Dark.  Guillermo del Toro is producing this one.  And all accounts that I have read make it sound like it will be very good.

Everything after that seems to be up in the air or being kept a secret.

The only other strategy that have heard is that DC plans to have other movies come out after Justice League. I also think that Dark Universe may do the same for properties such as Deadman, Swamp Thing, and Frankenstein.

More news as I see it.

We still don't know which teams they are linked to.  

Phantom Stranger has teamed up with Justice League Dark. 

Pandora has been looking to team with Justice League. 

The Question is just now showing up in Phantom Strangers book.  So therefore it is still up in the air.

My take on the War.

1.  The Trinity of Sins is linked to Shazam. We know this because the Wizards who punished the Trinity wore the mark of Shazam.

2.  Pandora's Box is the at the center of the conflict. Again we know this from the Free Comic day story and many stories since.

3. The Question holds a grudge against Phantom Stranger. You need go no further than Phantom Stranger's book to know tha.

4. Players like Zatanna will change teams.  Johns has just indicated that in interviews with various comic book sites.

5.  Change is coming to all the teams. Again John's has said that things will be different.

So there is my take so far.  We will find out in July what really happens.

Trinity War Update

Well not actually real war, but the Justice League Trinity War.

An added plus is the New 52 re-intro of Doctor Light.

Spoiler alert:  The article states that it is hard to tell if the new Dr. Light is a man or a woman, but after magnifing the pic I can safely say Dr. Light is a man.

His race is harder to tell.  Even harder to tell is which Justice League he belongs to.

Justice League Fights the Avengers on Netflix

The Justice League are battling it out on Netflix.

We not really.  Netflix has added Justice League and Justice League Unlimited to its offerings.

In additon to Justice League,  Batman: Brave and the Bold, and Batman Beyond are now playing on Netflix as well.

And lets not forget the DC Comics movies that have been added recently as well.

Not a bad value if you don't have this videos on DVD.

Green Lantern and Young Justice

A pair of explosions went off on the Cartoon Network today.

The final episodes of "Green Lantern, the Animated Series" and "Young Justice" aired today.

All I have to say is WOW.  If you haven't watch either series, you should.  Both are well done, and present the DC heroes in the same way that "Justice League" (which is airing in re-runs on the CW) did many years ago.

I hope that either the CW or Netflix (which will be soon airing old episodes of  one or both of these shows. will air more new episodes in the future.

Watch these last episodes if you can.

DC's New 52 pickup does well..

I always hated when someone else played 52 pick up with me.

I was one of the first to complain about DC's version of if with the new title "Justice League of America", but it has paid off for DC.

Justice League of America #1 sold 307,000 copies.  Wow.

And, to be honest, when I saw the Minnesota cover I too almost bought it.

Congrats to DC for making 52 pick-up a new favorite for collectors out there.

The New 52 is 50 in June

It almost sounds like a commercial for a hair care product, DC's June Solicits has only 50 titles instead of it's "52".

The attached link from Newsarama details all of the titles from June:

If you look further on their site, you find that they too have come to the conclusion that DC is two titles short of 52 in June.

My thoughts on that is the following:

1.  The Trinity of Sin titles (Phantom Stranger and Pandora) are lacking a "Question" title.

2.  The Young Justice titles are down to only two of them.  Which means, to me, that the rumored TEEN TITIANS title staring Raven and Beast Boy should come out in June or sometime soon.

Those are my thoughts, and I am sticking to them.

UPDATE- JUNE 2013 NEW TITLES-then last 3 titles

Here is my idea of the remaining three new June titles.

First let us review what we have so far:

1. Larfleeze (Green Lantern Family)
2. Trinity of Sins: Pandora (Dark family or Edge)
3. Superman Unchained. (Superman family)
4. Batman/Superman (Either Superman or Batman Family or Justice Leaugue)

So here are my thoughts:

1. Teen Titans title featuring Raven.
2. Creeper title.
3. Trinity of Sins: The Question (note that Pandora is getting a title, and that Phantom Stranger's title is being changed to "Trinity of Sins: Phantom Stranger".
4. The possibility that an old title like "The Green Team" might surface.
5.  A "Freedom Fighters" title.
6. A new Atom title, staring the new female Atom.

Also note that Batman and Robin is now "Batman and.....".  Damn sounds like "Brave and the Bold" all over again.

DC TEASES NEW TITLES THROUGH BLOGS AND AT EMERALD CITY CON.

This is the list so far:

Please note they still have to replace 3 more of the titles canceled in May to bring it back of to 52 titles.

At first glance, these titles look like they should do well.

I have some doubt on the longevity of Pandora's title beyond the Trinity War.

They are literally opening up Pandora's box for this new series.

"Trinity of Sin: Pandora" is joining the new 52.

The title looks interesting and I may add it to my buy pile.

News is tricklig in as to the seven titles to replace the titles that are canceled in May.

   1. Larfleeze (DC's sole Orange Lantern).

Hints are that the other Teen Titans title will show up.

Other than that, your guess is as good as mine.

The First Issue with 53 Different covers is finally here.

I have it.  Didn't invest in the 52 other covers, but I have to say I enjoyed the first issue.

This book is on my buy list.

Johns has done it again.

My disappointment that he is leaving Green Lantern is outweighed by my joy of him beefing up the Justice League titles.

I hope that the Green Lantern titles do not suffer once Johns and company leave those titles.

And Spider-Man couldn't be in this title either.  LOL

May 2013 Update

  I, Vampire and DC Universe Presents replacements are announced

I previously reported that "I, Vampire" and DC Universe Presents  had been Canceled.

DC has replaced them with two political based books.  One of which, "The Green Team" is a new take on title they published In First Issue Special #2,  May of 1975.

More Canceled titles Announced

DC Comics has reported that the following titles end in May:

1. Deathstroke
2. Fury of the Firestorm
3. The Savage Hawkman
4.Ravagers
5.Sword of Sorcery
6. Team 7

Here are my thoughts on what is coming in June:

1. New Gods. Orion is showing up in different titles even in May.

2. Another Teen Titian title.  Raven has been showing up in various titles as well.  DC has already said the New Teen Titans title will be lead by Raven.

3.  The Creeper.  The rumor has it that he shows up in Nightwing's April issue.

4. Another Young Justice Title. Either an individual or a team.

5. Freedom Fighters related title. It would be ashamed to have gone through 3 Freedom Fighters related series so far to just drop the idea.

6. Secret Six. I personally would like to see a different take on the team that incorporates ideas   from the classic and most recent versions of the team.

Young Justice and Green Lantern Animated Canceled

All the Reports I have read tell me that Young Justice and Green Lantern: the Animated Series (GLA) are canceled on Cartoon Network.

I also heard that Warner Bros made a deal with Netflix for shows that included the Green Lantern show.

Is it it possible that Netflix, in its effort to put new programs on their service, may be adding this to the list of original programs?

Only time will tell.  Nevertheless both programs may have a new home on Netflix.

May's new DC titles...my take

As I said in a couple of prior posts, DC is dropping  I, Vampire and DC Universe Presents.

The following is further exploration of what may come out in May.  I will do this by reviewing Newsarama's choices, by talking about what DC has already hinted, and by making my own recommendations.

Newsarama's Choices

1. New Gods.  Any revial of a Kirby title is something I would enjoy.  The fact that Orion is being featured in Wonder Woman does give this title some steam, but I really think that DC is going to wait until sales figures show that it could happen.

2. The Atom.  Both the old Atom (Ray Palmer) and the New Atom (Ryan Choi) had been mentioned in the New 52.  Ray was featured in the now canceled title Frankenstein, Agent of Shade. I don't think it is likely that The Atom is going to be one of the titles.

3.Lobo.  He has appeared in Deathstroke. So him coming back is possible. But I don't think that the time is right to give him a title.

4.The Creeper.  He is one of my favorite characters. I would love to see him in a book, but I think DC has to find the right writer and artist to make a viable title for him.  Plus I would rather have him appear somewhere else first.

5. The Doom Patrol.  Niles Caulder is currently in Ravagers so it is possible that a version of the Doom Patrol could follow.  I think it is really dependent upon Ravagers becoming successful.  In my mind they are not there yet.

6. Blue Devil.  Why newsarama?  He is just finishing a story with Black Lighting in DC Universe Presents, a title that being canceled in April.  I don't think it likely.

7.The Losers. The first question is what version. The second question is why would DC devote resources to either version when both were canceled?

8.Shadow Cabinet. This a good idea, but I think that the team should be introduced in several other magazines first.  My reason behind that is that a lot of us didn't embrace Static Shock either.

9.Sun Devils. Not that memorable.

10.Kamandi. As much as I would like to see this title, I don't think DC is ready to do this one.

What I think DC is going to Do.

1. New Teen Titans title.  A Raven lead Titans title has already been announced, so I think that would be next.

2. Not a real clue, but Freedom Fighters ( The Ray, Phantom Lady, and Human Bomb), The Doom Patrol (My Greatest Adventure and Ravagers), all have been building in various titles.

What I hope they will Do.

1. The New Teen Titans title.

2. Freedom Fighters title.

3. Either a Doom Patrol title or New Gods.

April Solicits part 2

Apparently I missed the final issue of  "I, Vampire" being in April.

Newsarama speculates what the titles will replace "I, Vampire", and "DC Universe Presents"

April Solicits...Another one Bites the Dust

Here is what I see from the the Solicits:

1. DC Universe Presents Ends it Run at Number 19.  That means the line will be down to 51 again.
I have not seen what will replace it yet, but hopefully it will be good

2. Something building. If you look at the solicit you will also see that some things are starting to build.

3. Cool Covers.  If you are fan of cool covers, April is the month to pick them up.  Many of the titles have variant fold out covers. I like them because it makes the cover a lot grander.
