Stargirl: The Lost Children-Cherry Bomb

Cherry Bomb as a Secret Identity is new in terms of the main DC Universe. But one other predates the new Cherry Bomb.

Legionaries #44 was her first and only appearance.

CHERRY BOMB from Stargirl.

The costume of the new Cherry Bomb looks like the original Human Bomb, Roy Lincoln.

ROY LINCOLN

Roy Lincoln, The Original Human Bomb, was a member of the Earth X team The Freedom Fighters.

A team of Super Heroes who were originally published by Quality comics made their DC Comics debut in Justice League of America of #107.

The team went to star in their own book.  After it was canceled several other series followed, but without Roy Lincoln as their Human Bomb.

This version of the Freedom Fighters were Featured in the series THE ALL STAR Squadron by Roy Thomas. Their part was minor in the overall team, and not fleshed out as much as in their own series.

Based on Roy's Human Bomb being on the cover of THE GOLDEN AGE which introduces this version of CHERRY BOMB, it is a good bet that they may be related in some way.

But just to throw a monkey wrench in the works there were 3 other Human Bombs:

Andy Franklin

Roy Lincoln was brutally beaten to death by BIZARRO. He and many other Freedom Fighters were killed by the SOCIETY, a group of Super Villains.

From the ashes came a new group of Freedom Fighters that Included the new Human Bomb: Andy Franklin.

His costume was very different from Roy's but the powers were very similar.

This particular hero was different in many ways than Roy.

So if there is a connection to Cherry Bomb, it remains to be seen.

MICHAEL TAYLOR

Michael appeared in a HUMAN BOMB mini series.

It is not likely that  he has any connection to CHERRY BOMB at all

Other than the fact that his costume is similar to Roy's and Cherry's.

David Mathis

Roy Lincoln's Grandson would make him a good candidate for Cherry Bomb or someone related to Cherry Bomb.

But I have to say Location, Location, Location.

This Human Bomb is on the wrong Earth to have any connection to Cherry Bomb. Especially if recent events have put every Super Hero on one Earth.

This Human Bomb lived under the World Wide Domination of The Nazis.

So scratch this one as well.

Stargirl: The Lost Children-Dyno-Mite

Dan the Dyna-Mite (https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Daniel_Dunbar_(New_Earth)was originally Dan Dunbar

who was a part of T.N.T and Dan The Dyna-Mite.

T.N.T died (as detailed in this link:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TNT_

(character)#:~:text=TNT%20is%20a%20DC%20Comics,%237%20(April%201942). )

and  Dan inherits T.N.T's ring.

Powers
Enhanced strength, speed, and resistance to injury
Energy generation

Team affiliationsAll-Star Squadron
Young All-Stars
Old Justice
Seven Soldiers of Victory

So I gave you the intro now I am going to show pics from the team books I mentioned.

From the Pages of All-Star Squadron

Dan is pictured next to T.N.T. in this group that also
includes people shown on the cover of the Stargirl:

  1. Human Bomb (presumably some connection to Cherry Bomb).
  2. Wing (former Sidekick to the Crimson Avenger)
  3. Mister Terrific
  4. Star-Spangled-Kid (The predecessor to Stargirl).

Dan left the All-Star Squadron to become a founding member of The Young The YoungAll-Stars. The series ran for 31 issues. More info:

DC made a retro effort to make continuity work better by taking Green Arrow and Speedy out of the 7 Soldiers of Victory and replace them with T.N.T and Dan the Dyna-mite.  The first time it was used was in STARGIRL.  The second time it was used was in The Mega Minis SEVEN SOLDIERS.  In that series there were to Dyna-mites.  Dan Dunbar and Harris Ledbetter. Harris dies in that series.

Below are helpful links:

So the way it looks is that Dan is no longer old in this series.  Anything else remains to be seen.
