RUMOR THAT JUSTICE LEAGUE AND BATMAN V. SUPERMAN BEING SHOT TOGETHER

IF THIS IS TRUE, IT WOULD BE WHY THERE WAS NO BIG ANNOUNCEMENT FROM WARNER BROS.

IGN Reports that WARNER is currently shooting 2 movies not just one.

Given their reasoning, it makes perfect sense.

One film after the other would pump up people like me who want to see DC movies as much as Marvel movies.

This Link gives you IGN's Story http://www.hulu.com/watch/582381

Let's hope that the DC TV shows do well.  That would be more ammo for Warner to make more movies.

DC PANELS AND NEWS FROM SDCC 2014

NO BIG NEWS FROM COMIC CON BUT...

THE FOLLOWING ARE NEWS BITS AND VIDEOS FROM COMIC CON:

DC ALL ACCESS INTERVIEW NEW WONDER WOMAN TEAM

ON YOU TUBE

DC COMICS TV MEGA PANEL DISCUSSED THIS FALLS SHOWS

THE ARROW PANEL

BATMAN V. SUPERMAN INFO

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS:  There were rumors in June about DC announcing their schedule of movies for the next bunch of years.  That did not happen.  The focus was on the new TV shows.  I agree with that strategy because they have 4 new shows coming out.  I think it is better to build a base for the shows, and then work to build the movie Universe closer to 2016.

Besides we have a lot of teases out there.  The Rock is teasing Shazam related stuff.  So at least we know he will be in Shazam.

We still have other hints and stills to see with Batman V. Superman.  It, like the newest Avengers movie has a big cast of heroes.

So let us wait until fall.  Especially since ARROW has turned it up a notch.

Nubia: The Black Wonder Woman

BLACK WONDER WOMAN APPEARED 20 YEARS BEFORE BLACK CAPTAIN AMERICA

A Black Captain America is creating a lot of buzz these days.  It has lead many in the media to say that DC is lagging is diversity.

I say "What took Marvel so long?'

DC introduced a black Wonder Woman in 1973.  In Wonder Woman #204.  Her name was Nubia, and she was featured in 20 issues of the book.

Remember 1973 was not long after the Civil Rights Moment.  It was not as PC as it is now to introduce people of color into comics.  No I am not saying Marvel didn't introduce people of color. I am just saying, that people posting articles about DC is not Diverse enough just don't know the Company's history or the current books for that matter.

The following are two examples (which I talked about in two previous post) of what I am seeing lately:

"DC SHOULD MAKE WONDER WOMAN A MAN" - They did before and he fought her on one time, and was part of an alternative universe in another.  And Why would you want a diverse universe and add another white male any way?

"CAPTAIN AMERICA IS BLACK" - Didn't they do that before ( January 2003)?  And even when they did  that, Wonder Woman still was black 30 years before that.

I applaud Marvel for what they are doing, but I think the Media needs to do more research when they call either company on not being diverse.

DC News from SDCC and More

HEADLINES FROM OTHER SITES

Comic Book.com Interview with Jim Lee talks about Batman V. Superman

DEN OF THE GEEK talks to The Rock about his DC Role.

MY RESPONSE TO ARTICLE ABOVE:

DC has been making strides to become more diverse with the introduction of the new 52.  DC is making strides.  The following are titles which feature diversity.

EARTH 2:  A black SUPERMAN, an Arabic DR. FATE, a Gay Green Lantern, Hawkgirl seems to be a women of color, and many of the supporting characters are people of color.

JUSTICE LEAGUE:  CYBORG, Former Member: ELEMENT WOMAN, New Member: POWER RING.

JUSTICE LEAGUE UNITED: Alana Strange is Black, Equinox is Native American.

BATWING....The Dude is Black

TEEN TITANS:  BUNKER is gay.

BATWOMAN: Lesbian

RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS:  STARFIRE--yes an alien woman of color counts in my book.

FUTURE'S END: MISTER TERRIFIC, Half of Firestorm, Some Black dude wearing a flag for a cape.

I could go on and on as to where DC has made strides to become more diverse.  The only difference is that DC isn't replacing a major hero, they are expanding it.

And to be honest with you there are more Diverse Heroes that DC has yet to put into the New 52.

The only complaint I have with DC and Marvel is that their are so few Native American heroes.

But the good thing is that the ones who have survived are very memorable.

DC: Dawnstar and Black Condor.  Oh and of Course Super-Chief (someone I would give a better name).

So I think that people need to do their research when it comes to claiming DC is not diverse enough.  After all they don't seem to know that DC did do some issues with a Black Wonder Woman already... why is it taking Marvel so long to come up with a Black Captain American?

More Soon...

DC All Access Update from Comic Con

DC ALL ACCESS TALKS TO DIDO ABOUT NEW TITLES

I told you about them, and now Dan Dido talks about how they came up with them.

I do like that Dan leaked that Lobo fights Lobo in the first issue of the title.

Based on what he said, I think DC is pandering to a younger audience with TEEN TITANS and BATGIRL.

The problem I see right now is that their are continuity problems with both titles already.

When did Beast Boy go from red to green?

Will the Birds of Prey see a changed Batgirl?

And, if they do, how will they explain it?

Enough of those questions for now.

More news as it happens.

Fall 2014 Shows for DC Comics

THE FLASH CW

October Solicits are out

DC is making October look like a good month for books.

Just when I thought Deathstroke, Klarion, Lobo, and the Trinity of Sin were something to look forward to, I see something else coming out.

BATWOMAN #35 starts a BATWOMAN AND THE UNKNOWNS storyline.  The Unknowns are RAGMAN http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Ragman, CLAYFACE  http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Clayface, RED ALICE, and THE DEMONhttp://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Etrigan.  The members of this team alone make me want October to be here soon.  As you will note I put links for the heroes/villains I do know.  I think that Red Alice was originally an anti-heroine named Black Alice, but reading the book will tell.  Ragman and The Demon were in a pre-New 52 title called SHADOWPACT.  The Demon wasn't really a member. It will be interesting to see if a BATWOMAN AND THE UNKNOWNS title comes out of it like AQUAMAN AND THE OTHERS.

THE DEMON also shows up in SWAMP THING ANNUAL #3 which is another title out this month.

NEW GODS: GODHEAD #1 is another title of note because it ties into the GREEN LANTERN family of titles.  It also brings THE NEW GODS even more in the limelight of the DC Universe.

October New Titles RECAP:

  1. EARTH 2: WORLDS END
  2. THE MULTIVERSITY
  3. ARKHAM MANOR
  4. GOTHAM ACADEMY
  5. DEATHSTROKE
  6. KLARION
  7. LOBO
  8. TRINITY OF SIN
  9. NEW GODS: GODHEAD

OTHER ITEMS OF NOTE:

THE LEGION OF SUPER HEROES returns to the pages of JUSTICE LEAGUE UNITED in Annual #1.

NEW GODS: GODHEAD, GREEN LANTERN #35, GREEN LANTERN CORPS #35, GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS #35, RED LANTERNS #35, and SINESTRO # 6 are all one story.  So picking up the New Gods title would be a must.  Looking at the synopsis of each title tells me that is should be a good story.

Legion of Super Heroes Returns In Justice League Annual

Justice League United to Guest Star Legion of Super-Heroes

Justice League United will have its first Annual in October.  It will bring back the New 52 Legion of Super-Heroes (LSH) according to COMIC BOOK RESOURCES in an article posted recently (see this link for the article http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=54027 ).

The premise seems to be that the 31st Century has been destroyed.  So it goes with the whole FUTURE'S END theme.

Although it would be interesting to see the LSH in the present time, I think DC would be giving up too easy on that time period.  Especially since they have JUSTICE LEAGUE 3000.

The problem with the Legion is that it only has, for the most part, only its own villains.  The Fatal Five, The Legion of Super-Villains, The Dominators, and Pulsar Stargrave used to only exist in that time frame.

DC has been smart enough to incorporate The Daxams, the Khunds, and The Duralans, into the present day comics, but they didn't fell the real magic that made all the the Legion titles before them great.

The new 52 had LSH and Legion Lost.  Both titles were canceled.  The issue wasn't the settings of the titles, it was that the stories didn't compel enough readers to buy the title.

I didn't read the LSH title.  The stories just didn't draw me to them.

I did read Legion Lost after a couple issues.  I loved the make up the team. I did not like the whole idea of N.O.W.H.E.R.E.

I wanted greater interaction with the DC Universe as a whole.

One Pre New 52 story that did that was "The Great Darkness Saga"  by Paul Levitz and Keith Giffen (info on this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_Darkness_Saga ).

The one thing I think that DC did wrong was putting the WANDERERS in the present.  It took away another team to either ally with or to have conflict with.  DC can have strong future.  They just have to commit to making it as interesting as it was before the New 52.

The old LSH introduced heroes like Dawnstar, Wildfire, Quislet, and others to keep readers interested.  They also created bad Guys like Tyr, The Time Trapper, and The Fatal Five that brought readers like me back.

The LSH has been around for a long time.  They just need the kinds of stories that Jim Shooter and Paul Levitz used to write pre New 52.

If Legion Lost comes back in the present day, please have them face present day villains that every other 21st Century Heroes face.

It would bring in more readers who want to see those kinds of stories.  This goes back to the Darkseid story.  It was one of the most popular LSH stories every.

That is my rant folks.

Enjoy your comics and hopefully DC will continue to take us to places we never imagined.
